Over 100 attendees participated in the 2017 District IV NABP/AACP Annual Meeting held in Toledo OH.  Dr. Jon Sprague, former Dean at Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy and currently, Director & BCI Eminent Scholar with the Ohio Attorney General’s Center for the Future of Forensic Science, opened the conference with an outstanding presentation discussing the Neurobiology of Substance Abuse Disorders.  This was followed by a teleconference highlighting the National Institute on Drug Abuse’s paper published recently in the NEJM titled: “Opiate Abuse: Science equals Solutions.”   Thursday’s sessions featured speakers from the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy and District colleges of pharmacy describing their respective roles in dealing with the opiate crisis and led a dialogue with participants on creative, collaborative approaches to the epidemic.  The conference wrapped up Friday morning with a lively discussion on the issues and challenges in developing a medical marijuana program in Ohio.  The meeting was held at the newly opened Renaissance by Marriott – Downtown Toledo.
